This comprehensive facility is now comprised of three separate hospitals (the University Hospital, the Institute of Psychiatry, and the Children's Hospital). The Medical Center includes centers for specialized care (Heart Center, Transplantation Center, Hollings Cancer Center, Digestive Diseases Center). Numerous outpatient facilities include the Family Medicine Center, University Diagnostic Center, and affiliated faculty practice ambulatory care centers. MUSC is certified as a Regional Perinatal Center with level III certification, with 16 neonatal intensive care beds and 50 neonatal special care beds. Trauma Center level I certification.

Description:South Carolina's largest and most comprehensive pediatric healthcare center. The hospital houses the only Level III neonatal intensive care unit in the region where the tiniest newborns are provided state-of-the-art care. Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the only one in the region, is staffed exclusively by trained pediatric critical care physicians and nurses. Also offers women's labor and delivery services, as well as obstetrical operating rooms.

Description:The center offers a variety of assessment, intervention and treatment services to adults and children who are victims of violent crimes, as well as their families. They also treat victims of other forms of trauma, such as automobile accidents, house fires and natural disasters. Has several different programs including a community outreach program for those who are unable to come to the clinic; a Hispanic outreach program called Esperanza; and a program that helps domestic violence victims. A psychiatrist is also available once a week for to check patients' physical health and consult on medications. Services may be free for those who qualify for the SC Crime Victims Compensation program.

Description:PASOs provides prenatal education in Spanish to expecting Latina mothers. Transportation and childcare are available. Trains health educators in healthy practices and increase access to care; and forms partnerships between the Latino community, the academic community, non-profits and the private health care sector. Program is offered in Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Georgetown, Beaufort, Jasper, Lexington, Richland, Greenville and Spartanburg counties. The website is in both Spanish and English.
