The Institute has been identified as one of the nation's top 10 psychiatric research centers in guiding the search for treatments of depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, problems with drug and alcohol addiction, and many other disorders. It offers both inpatient and outpatient services.

Description:The center offers a variety of assessment, intervention and treatment services to adults and children who are victims of violent crimes, as well as their families. They also treat victims of other forms of trauma, such as automobile accidents, house fires and natural disasters. Has several different programs including a community outreach program for those who are unable to come to the clinic; a Hispanic outreach program called Esperanza; and a program that helps domestic violence victims. A psychiatrist is also available once a week for to check patients' physical health and consult on medications. Services may be free for those who qualify for the SC Crime Victims Compensation program.
