Description:With about 80 staff, the Berkeley Community Mental Health Center consists of two locations in Berkeley County; additionally, counselors are also assigned to several schools in the county. Psychiatrists, nurses, counselors, and others provide direct clinical services. The Center offers adult, children, adolescent and family services, as well as crisis intervention services which include a variety of accessible services for emergency assessments, hospital screening, treatment, and referral for individuals experiencing a psychiatric crisis. Hotline, a telephone counseling service, answers the Center telephones after business hours and can page mental health on-call staff; the on-call staff can offer support to individuals by telephone and arrange to meet individuals in a local emergency room. Major insurances are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid. Staff are available to discuss payment plans for clients and their families.

Description:The mission of The CARES Clinic is to provide free access to primary health care for the underserved and disadvantaged of the greater Charleston metropolitan area. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00. Services are by appointment only. Because the clinic is student-run, they are limited to just 6 to 10 patients each evening, depending of the number of physicians available. Also accepts appointments for physical therapy, psychiatry, and women's services. Speak to the office manager to make an appointment.

Description:The center offers a variety of assessment, intervention and treatment services to adults and children who are victims of violent crimes, as well as their families. They also treat victims of other forms of trauma, such as automobile accidents, house fires and natural disasters. Has several different programs including a community outreach program for those who are unable to come to the clinic; a Hispanic outreach program called Esperanza; and a program that helps domestic violence victims. A psychiatrist is also available once a week for to check patients' physical health and consult on medications. Services may be free for those who qualify for the SC Crime Victims Compensation program.
