Description:Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center is one of seventeen Community Mental Health Centers in South Carolina operating under the auspices of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health; its primary mission is to serve clients with serious and persistent mental illness. It also has Milbrook Place, which has a psychosocial rehabilitation program. Major insurances are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid. Staff are available to discuss payment plans for clients and their families.

Description:The Community Medical Clinic of Aiken County is designed to provide free medical care to those in Aiken County, between the ages of 19 and 64 who have no access to medical insurance and have income below 160 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Medical: Doctors and nurse practitioners provide free primary health care, and may refer patients to a network of volunteer specialists if necessary. Pharmacy: Free prescriptions are filled for many chronic and acute illnesses, primarily through the partnership with Commun-I-Care. That formulary is available online. Cardiology and gynecology appointments are scheduled periodically for established patients. Classes in diabetes management, smoking cessation, and metabolic syndrome are also scheduled for established patients.
