Description:The Columbia Area Mental Health Center is one of seventeen Community Mental Health Centers in South Carolina operating under the auspices of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH). This center serves as the administrative office for mental health services provided by SCDMH in Fairfield and Richland counties. As part of the service delivery network of the SCDMH, this local office provides or will assist persons in obtaining a variety of mental health services and supports according to their assessed needs. The services they have are: long term treatment for those who have a chronic mental illness, treatment for borderline personality disorder, adult foster care for those who are mentally ill, a hospital liaison program, and mental health court to divert inmates from jail to treatment. There is also centers that have a psychosocial rehabilitation program and provide services to young adults.

Description:Sistercare, Inc. is the only organization in South Carolina's Midlands that provides shelter, services, and advocacy to battered women and their children. Services include a 24-hour crisis line, children's counseling, community counseling services, individual counseling, follow up, legal advocacy, medical crisis intervention, and community education and training. Sistercare is a private, non-profit 501C3 United Way member agency that relies on the financial support of individuals, businesses, and civic and faith organizations.

SCCADVASA is a statewide advocacy coalition of all the domestic violence shelters and rape crisis centers in South Carolina to represent the needs of victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. It promotes awareness and tries to influence public policy. They provide: technical assistance in the development and expansion of resources and services; statistics and references; training and technical assistance to elected officials, law enforcement, health care agencies, social service agencies and other helping agencies; information and consultation to victims and survivors; and legislative and public policy updates.
