| Description: | BabyNet is South Carolina's interagency system of early intervention services for families who have infants and toddlers, birth to three years of age, with developmental delays or conditions associated with developmental delays. Children may be eligible for BabyNet if they are learning or developing slowly. Eligible children are served regardless of family income or nationality. Services are provided in everyday routines, activities and places relevant to the life of the family. Anyone (a parent, doctor, caregiver, teacher or friend) can make a referral by calling the referral phone number. |

| Description: | The Center for Disability Resources, South Carolina's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disability Education, Research and Service (UCEDDERS) is part of a network of more than sixty UCEDDERS located at major universities throughout the United States. We work in partnership with others to advance a greater recognition of the abilities of all people and promote their full inclusion into every aspect of society through the interdisciplinary training, community services and technical assistance, research, and dissemination. | Description: | Clients must be referred from local SC Vocational Rehabilitation offices. Specialists evaluate each client's physical disability and determine his or her vocational needs. The Evaluation Center offers a variety of programs and comprehensive services, including: psychological services, career planning and employment, muscular development, aquatic therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, and nutritional counseling. Nurses staff the dormitory 24 hours a day. The inpatient facility serves clients referred by SCVRD counselors from across the state. |

| Description: | Relay South Carolina (RSC) is a free service that provides full telephone accessibility to people who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind, and speech-disabled. This service allows text-telephone (TTY) users to communicate with standard telephone users through specially training relay operators. Calls can be made to anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with no restrictions on the number, length, or type of calls. All calls are strictly confidential and no records of any conversations are maintained. Anyone who wishes to use RSC simply dials the toll free relay number to connect with a communciation assistant (CA). The CA will dial the requested number and relay the conversation between the two callers. RSC service, provided by South Carolina telephone companies through a contract with Sprint, is used to assist communications between people who use text telephones (TTY's) and people who use voice telephones. Specially trained operators facilitate communications between the two callers. Each call is handled in strict confidence. Call to inquire about free equipment available through the South Carolina Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program. The disabled will need special device(s) installed before using the service. The hearing (voice caller) do not need special devices to use RSC. Examples are: a phone that amplifies the signal so the caller can be better heard, or text on a screen that shows what the caller is saying. Other equipment amplifies the user's voice. Qualifying disabilities are: hard-of-hearing, deaf, deaf-blind, blind/low vision with hearing loss, or speech impaired. A landline phone is also necessary to qualify for equipment.
