Haz-Map
(National Library of Medicine)
Haz-Map is an occupational toxicology database designed for health and safety professionals and for consumers seeking information about the health effects of exposure to chemicals at work. Haz-Map links jobs and hazardous tasks with occupational diseases and their symptoms. Haz-Map's chemicals and biological agents are related to industrial processes and other activities such as hobbies. Its occupational diseases and their symptoms are associated with hazardous job tasks. Haz-Map's link with jobs and hazardous tasks helps to indicate the potential for exposure to these agents. Information from textbooks, journal articles, and electronic databases such as NLM's HSDB was classified and summarized to create the database.

Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB)
(National Library of Medicine)
HSDB focuses on the toxicology of potentially hazardous chemicals, and is enhanced with information on human exposure, industrial hygiene, emergency handling procedures, environmental fate, regulatory requirements, and related areas. Chemicals are added to HSDB on a scheduled basis; over 4500 individual chemical records are available. Much of the information in this database is complex and can be difficult to understand, but you can find valuable information such as emergency treatment for exposure and human health effects.

Tox Town
(National Library of Medicine)
Tox Town uses neighborhood scenes - the Port, City, Town, Farm, and US-Mexico Border region - along with color, graphics, sounds and animation to add interest to learning about connections between chemicals, the environment and the public's health. Each scene focuses on unique environmental health concerns. Tox Town's target audience is the interested public, plus high school, college and graduate students, and educators (see the link on the home page For teachers). Tox Town also has a growing number of resources en español.

TOXMAP
(National Library of Medicine)
TOXMAP uses maps of the United States and local areas to explore data about the release of toxic chemicals. The data is from the EPA's Toxics Release Inventory. Maps show where these chemicals are released on-site into the air, water, and ground, and identify the releasing facilities, single year releases, and chemical release trends over time. You can search the system by chemical name, chemical name fragment, and/or location (such as city, state, or zip code).

WebWISER
(National Library of Medicine)
WISER is a system designed to assist first responders in hazardous material incidents. WISER provides a wide range of information on hazardous substances, including substance identification support, physical characteristics, human health information, and containment and suppression advice. WebWISER provides the WISER functionality via the Internet, without downloading of software or data to the desktop. It has a consistent look and feel of the WISER for Windows desktops/laptops and PDAs. WebWISER supports web browsers for both PCs and PDAs, including BlackBerry.
