Abbeville

Trinity Episcopal Church, Abbeville, South Carolina

First established in the early 1700’s, the town of Abbeville later grew to be an important commerce and cultural center of the South Carolina Upcountry.

Abbeville is often called
“The Birthplace and Deathbed of the Confederacy.”

In 1860, one the the first meetings of the secessionist movement was held in Abbeville. And, in 1865, Confederate President Jefferson Davis held his last War Cabinet meeting in Abbeville.
