![]() |
Greenville is both a city and a county in South Carolina's Piedmont region, named for a revolutionary war general. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Cherokee Indians lived and hunted in the area that is now Greenville County. Until the 1930s, Greenville was famous for its textile mills. Today, the auto, chemical and papermaking industries are important to the county's economy. |
