Healthy Connections and Partners for Healthy Children

Healthy Connections Kids and Partners for Healthy Children are health insurance programs for children under the age of 19 from families with low income. If your children do not have health insurance, they may be eligible, even if you are working. These programs help with visits to the doctor, prescriptions, hospitalizations and other types of health care. They are funded through the federal Medicaid and State Children's Health Insurance Programs.

It covers approximately 36 million individuals including children, the aged, blind, and/or disabled, and people who are eligible to receive federally assisted income maintenance payments. Partnership for Prescription Assistance
This site is a collaboration of pharmaceutical companies, health care providers and advocacy organizations. It offers a way to easily find discount medication programs that you may qualify for. It is easy to use and provides a toll free number for those who cannot access them electronically. It allows you to find assistance programs available nationally and by state. Simply select Patients/Click to Start and that will start you on a simple process to finding a discount program. Spanish speaking users can click on Español at the top of the page for the same service.

Healthy Connections Choices is a state program that helps Medicaid recipients enroll in (join) a health plan. The Website includes information on health plans, a directory where patients can find a physician or a hospital, and a five-minute video about the enrollment process. The site is also available in Spanish.

The Free Medical Clinic, Inc

This clinic serves Midlands residents who cannot receive medical care coverage through a government assisted program and who do not have private coverage. They must verify that their annual family income does not exceed by more than a small percentage over the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Tri-County Project Care

Tri-County Project Care is a program that assists residents of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties. The plan helps them pay for doctor's visits and medications. People must be between the ages of 19 - 64, employed, without access to other health insurance, and have an income within 125% to 200% of the Federal Poverty level.
