This diabetes center at McCleod Regional Care Center in Florence serves a 12 county area. Services offered are: diabetes self-management education, exercise planning, individualized meal planning, carbohydrate counting, insulin pump training, weight management, training in home glucose monitoring, training in administering medication.

Provides emergency financial assistance, free medical alert bracelet, medication discounts, and household goods/clothing assistance.
Project Sugar

The Sea Islands African American Registry Project is a program operated by the Medical University of South Carolina. It is a research project that offers free diabetes exams and compensation to people who qualify. There are two studies with different requirements. To find out if you qualify, go to the Page Directory on the left and select Study Participants for the first study and GENNID for the second study.
