Sustainability

South Carolina Sustainable Universities Initiative
This program is a joint effort by Clemson University, the Medical University of South Carolina, and the University of South Carolina to educate our university students and the community in the areas of sustainablity (simultaneously meeting environmental, economic and community needs). The program attempts to develop models for sustainable development and share them with other agencies and the community. Click on SC Sustainablity Network for information about some very interesting local projects that can teach you how to live in a sustainable way. Other sections to see are Ecological Footprints and Get Involved.

The Sustainability Institute
This institute is committed to creating homes and communities that are environmentally sound and comfortable. Located in North Charleston, the main office serves as an example of an older home renovated using environmentally friendly materials and techniques. Click here to learn how to save energy and water and to create green spaces. See how to build or renovate a “green home” and how to make “green” choices. Click on the Events Calendar to learn about workshops, community meetings, and other events.
