Description:A program established by the Medical University of South Carolina, Anchors Away is a nonprofit outdoor educational and recreation program for individuals living with disabilities. The program serves all types of abilities and gender/age/race populations and defines a person with a disability as anyone who does not have equal access or ability to utilize the same recreational resources that are available to the majority of the community.

Description:The Parent Training and Resource Center (PTRC) is a program offering support, training, information and referral to families accessing special education services for their children and youth with disabilities. PTRC provides services in Berkeley, Dorchester & Charleston Counties. Services Include: Free Lending Library, Annual Conference, Quarterly Newsletter, Training Workshops, Peer-Parent Mentor Program for Special Education Advocacy, Satellite Locations, and Information & Referral. The Family Resource Center is funded through grants, donations, fundraisers, and community support. The Family Resource Center is a non-profit corporation. The FRC library contains topics related to specific disabilities, self-advocacy issues, current therapies, and special education. Many resources are available in Spanish.

Description:MUSC Children's Hospital's genetics specialists help children, families and adults faced with hereditary and genetic factors that cause disease, defects or potential health issues. Some of the conditions include: disorders, birth defects, Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida and family cancer. A referral is needed from your primary care physician. Services include: genetic evaluation, genetic counseling, and coordination of genetic testing.
